About The Movement Clinic

The Movement Clinic is an independent private medical and physical wellness practice situated within the Dance City building on Temple Street, Newcastle centre. Our specialised clinical services are fully open to the public; you do not need to be a dancer or a member of Dance City to book an appointment.

Success in our eyes is empowering and leading you to regain control and lead a happier, healthier and pain-free life.

The Movement Clinic Difference:

Our unique approach goes beyond simply treating symptoms—we focus on your entire body to uncover the root cause of your pain and deliver personalised, effective solutions.

To do this, we intentionally keep our patient numbers low to ensure every individual receives the time, attention, and tailored care they deserve. At The Movement Clinic, it’s not about volume—it’s about delivering exceptional results through a highly personalised approach.

Professionals trust our approach to gain lasting results.

We offer 2 convenient ways to work with us:

Our city-centre Reformer clinic

At your own home through our concierge service.

We take pride in our distinctive approach, setting ourselves apart from most physiotherapy, chiropractic, and osteopathy clinics.

While many healthcare professionals focus on symptoms and pain location, we take a more in-depth approach to identify the underlying causes.

Our innovative assessment meticulously pieces together your unique story, allowing us to view your body as a whole.

We believe that understanding the bigger picture is key to truly effective healing, and we're here to guide you on that journey.

Products

We use a wide range of different products and tools to create a bespoke rehab. One of our main tools is reformer pilates, but along side that we can use red light/ LASER therapy, manual therapy, blood flow restriction training, compression flossing, Kinosology taping and many more.

We always want the best for you, this includes your skin. This means we want to use natural products that also smell amazing and match with the season.

Who is TMC?

Founders John and Ashleigh come from diverse backgrounds, giving them a unique approach to building Newcastle’s best physio practice.

Ashleigh studied forensic science and worked in environmental control before heading back to uni to complete an MSc in physio. Her studies focused on musculoskeletal and pelvic health. She has an extensive background in athletics and competes in netball at a high level, regularly winning MVP trophies.

John worked as a ski instructor and then in academia before earning a BSc in physio and an international certification in health coaching. He started powerlifting at 16 and has been in and around gyms ever since, and has expanded into exploring the outdoors, with adventures in the Himalayas, Kyrgyzstan, and the Alps.

Our Values

At the core of what we do is a set of values. We live in confusing times, but because we stand for something at TMC, we're less likely to fall for everything. The red-thread, guiding all that we do is the following set of 7 values:

1. Health Care Not Sick Care

The approach is rooted in hospitality rather than pathology. Even when treating injuries, the goal is to return the patient to a state of health that exceeds their pre-injury baseline. It is a proactive, mental, and physical shift away from simply "fixing" problems. The business is aimed at depathologisation.

2. We Change Lives

This applies bi-directionally. For patients, it means moving beyond the injury to a superior state of well-being. For staff (physios, admin, contractors, and students), the clinic serves as a vehicle for self-actualisation and reaching one's most fulfilled state.

3. Intentional Community

The clinic is intentional about its community. This involves a rigorous selection process for patients who will benefit most from the clinical process, as well as staff who represent a precise cultural fit.

4. Autopoiesis

Both staff and patients must be self-motivated and demonstrate "autopoiesis"—the capacity for self-creation and maintaining their own momentum.

5. The Big Picture

While some label it "holistic," the clinic defines it as seeing the macro view of the business and the patient's life. Decisions are made with an understanding of how individual actions affect the entire system.

6. Life-Affirming & Life-Supporting

The clinic must not be a drain on resources or spirit. Rehab should affirm a patient's existence; the business should support the lives of those who work there.

7. Radical Honesty

In an era of information overload, it is surprisingly easy to manipulate freedom and obscure the truth. We tell it like it is, and we aren't afraid to call out misinformation or questionable practices in the healthcare industry.
