Our Physiotherapist are equipped to handle a wide range of knee issues, including:

  • Often characterised by pain around or under the knee cap (patella), Typically caused by overuse/imbalance of the Knee Muscles or misalignment of the Knee cap during movement. Symptoms can include pain during activities like running, squatting, climbing stairs, or sitting for extended periods.

  • Pain on the outside of the knee, from the thick connective Illiotibial band running between the hip, down the outside of the thigh to the knee. This is common in runners, cyclists and downhill walking. The condition is often due to overuse or muscle imbalances.

  • The knee has its own suspension system, part of which is two C-shaped cartilage discs inside the knee joint. These tears usually occur during twisting motions of the knee, particularly during activity.

  • OA is a multifactorial condition. The main cause of Osteoarthritis is a previous injury to the joint. The risk of OA increases with age, obesity and hormonal changes (menopause) but should not be considered ‘wear and tear’. Symptoms include pain, swelling and stiffness of the joint, particularly in the morning improving with movement.
